Cabinet ministers praised His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for launching the UAE’s National Strategy for the Cultural and Creative Industries today.

The plan aims to boost the cultural and creative industries sector’s growth and position it among the top ten economic sectors in the country, with a goal of contributing 5% of the country’s GDP.

The plan, which is a first in the region, intends to increase the country’s place on the world cultural and creativity map while also improving global competitiveness indicators in this area. It emphasizes the UAE’s crucial role in enabling and motivating creative thinking, as well as its status as a preferred destination for cultural practitioners and creative businesses from all over the world.

The plan focuses on 40 activities encompassing three primary segments: talents and creatives, professionals and business environment, and allowing the business environment to fulfill these goals. 16 projects are focused at talents and creatives; 10 initiatives are aimed at professionals and the business environment; and 14 initiatives are aimed at enabling the business environment.

The plan aims to strengthen the UAE’s position as a worldwide knowledge economy destination based on creativity, innovation, talent, and technology.

The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center will also measure the cultural and creative industries’ economic and social indicators, which will be shared with decision-makers and relevant government organizations in order to assess the sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP.
